Jacksonville witnessed history when former Southmoore standout Cam Little drilled a jaw-dropping 70-yard field goal in the Jaguars’ preseason clash against the Steelers, the longest ever made in league history.
Little, just 21, launched the ball through the uprights with room to spare, a kick that would have shattered the NFL’s regular- season record. The monster boot instantly etched his name into the record books and electrified fans who saw what could be a preview of things to come.
Back in his Southmoore days, Little connected on six of 10 field goals as a senior, including a 49-yarder, while nailing all 24 extra- point attempts. But nothing compares to this preseason rocket, which now stands as the longest field goal ever recorded in league play.
