The Sallisaw Black Diamonds and the Checotah Wildcats scrimmaged each other Friday at Ray Grandstaff stadium in Checotah. Both teams were still evaluating players at multiple positions. Some players made their presence known such as linebacker Woodrow Spears. The junior linebacker was physical and dominant. Quarterback Cole Rolland looked looked sharp. The sophomore quarterback made some great passes but was under pressure for most of the scrimmage. Shooter Eagleberger looked solid on both sides of the football. Freshman lineman Gabe Scarborough and senior Bryce Marshall and Payden Miller did a great job on the line of scrimmage.
Elijah Mohammad appeared to be a solid player at defensive end and tight end. Senior lineman Cale Thompson was out with a shoulder injury. Checotah will kick off the season August 29 as they host the Okmulgee Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
