After watching Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer and Oklahoma State quarterback Hauss Hejny up close from the sideline, I have no doubt that the hype for each quarterback was indeed correct. Mateer led the Sooners down field like a general and threw the football with such force and with a quick release. Not only did he prove Saturday that he can throw the football but can run with it also.
The characteristics are very similar to Cowboy’s quarterback Hauss Hejny. The Cowboys were able to move the football up field with ease before Hejny left the game with a broken foot.
It was bad luck for OSU head coach Mike Gundy however; back-up quarterback Zane Flores came in and led the Cowboys to a 27-7 victory. But anyone watching the game could see the huge difference in talent between Flores and Hejny. The question is can the Cowboys hold the ship steady while Henjy is recuperating? We shall see.
As far as Mateer goes, it will be up to the running game to set up the passing game of Mateer and Saturday the running game struggled against an FCS school. Either way, football is here and the excitement is everywhere.
1-2-3 break.
