The fourth annual Wine and Art Festival begins Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
An extended weather forecast predicts relatively mild temperatures for the event, possibly a low of 61 and a high of 79 as compared to highs that felt like over 100 in recent weeks.
Overall, it should be a good day to get out with family or friends or even solo and enjoy the art and wine on Front Street.
Two murals will be added to the dozen or more that grace buildings in Eufaula.
Artist Jack Fowler, former editor of the Indian Journal, and Missouri muralist Alex Eickoff are scheduled to have murals completed before the Sept. 6 festival.
Both murals will be at the Eufaula cove, one on the bathrooms in front of Xtreme General Store and the other on the water pump building.
Thirty-seven artists, 12 more than last year, will have booths at this year’s event, which will feature a wide array of art, from photography to sculpting to oils and acrylics and more.
Cash will be awarded to the top three artists at the end of the festival. First Place will receive $500; second place, $300 and third place, $200.
The festival is still accepting artist applications. The booth rental fee is $50 and you can visit visioneufaula. org or call 405-248-2992 to get an application for a booth.
A non-artist booth will be held by the Eufaula First United Methodist Church, collecting goods for their new Pad the Pantry project, which will open Sept. 20.
In addition to the Methodist church, four others are affiliated with the pantry, including St. Paul Catholic, Assembly of God, Wayland Baptist and Community Culture.
On Saturdays, starting Sept. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Methodist Church, 251 Matthews Lane, anyone in need of food assistance will be welcome to come by and help themselves.
Those who will attend the festival can drop off some non-perishable food at the Pad the Pantry booth, or drop food off at Nichols Market, 200 S. 2nd St., and Sonny’s Grocery, 402 S. Main St.
This year a Kids Zone will be set up in the area behind Bank of Eufaula, where there will be activities for kids, such as: Interactive activities hosted by Eufaula Memorial Library Obstacle Course Bounce House Square Bounce House Inflatable Axe Throwing Inflatable Carnival Gaming Trio Face Painting with balloon art Little Train from The Patch The festival will also feature five alcohol distributors, including Farfalla Wines; Backroad Winery, On the Lamb, Morton Distilleries and 405 Brewing Co.
Also, five food trucks will be on hand to feed the hungry.
New mural maps will be available so participants can visit each of the murals in town.
Throughout the festival, folks will be entertained by live music presented by: Ava Rose Johnson, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Tucker Leathers & Paxton Detroit, from Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Bluefish, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
And Last Call Band, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
