A dark day as a nation
commentary

A dark day as a nation

I dare to say as a Nation we have been going backwards for years – decades – and beyond. However, the most recent killing of Charlie Kirk, a 31year-old father of two young children who was shot while speaking to students at an event for Turning Point USA in Utah, was truly a dark day as a nation because it divided us all even more. Kirk, a right-wing political activist and “influential voice” for young conservatives in the digital age, didn’t deserve a death sentence carried out by an angry young man. Yet neither did House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, who were fatally shot in their home in June as was their family dog, Gilbert. Hortman was a lawyer, mother, wife and dog lover. She was also a volunteer who taught Sunday School and she served as a Girl Scout Leader. So why weren’t our U.S. flags flown half-staff for this Democratic leader? Why was a flag flown half-staff for a man known to be a prominent voice of the MAGA movement in the Republican Party but also known to be someone who sparked controversy about race and religion everywhere he went? How does anyone claim to be a “Christian” and spew hate? Is any man’s life worth more than another’s? According to the Word of God it is not.

Romans 2: 1-16 states “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.

For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Read that entire chapter and tell me if it’s not scary to think of those in political power who are doing just that.”

Does that sound like God is partial to any man? You better get ready to give an account of your own life.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked:for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”- Galatians 6:7 GOD IS NO RESPECTOR OF PERSONS and HE SEES EVERYTHING DONE IN SECRET! And He does not care if your name is Donald Trump, Ryan Walters, Markwayne Mullins, Pamela Harris, Mitt Romney, Letitia James…and the list goes on and on and on and my name is on it too.

God not only sees and hears everything you say, He looks upon the heart and knows its true agenda – whether it is evil or good.

God has heard enough of these intentional lies that try to deceive the multitudes. And “…every idle word that man shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement.”- Matthew 12:36 Matthew 24:4-13 states “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

Does any of this sound familiar? Has anyone picked up their Bible recently and read it. Believe me it’s real and it’s relevant for today.

We are definitely in the dark as a nation spiritually and we need an awakening!

My pastor Steven Furtick has preached it for weeks now. He has been talking about “Same Lies, New Loops.” We have definitely been caught up in all the lies and going round and round, but the Answer is JESUS!

We better be careful whose voice we are listening to. If it’s man’s ideas it’s going to fail. But I want to hear what God has to say…”For I know the plans I have for you.”

Victory and defeat are both found in the repeat. If we keep repeating the same patterns then history will repeat itself and we will be at war amongst ourselves which is happening now.

Wake up America! Wake up Mr. President! It may be a dark day for our nation right now, but He is coming back! And He will outshine all the politics, all the hatred and all the violence. So get ready!
