Texanna Lady Crafters
By HELEN TREMAIN

September is time to update everyone on what is going on at Texanna Lady Crafters. Fall is here, and it is our busiest time of the year. We have our annual fall fundraiser, which is the craft bazaar, bake sale, and yard sale coming up October 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Our bake sale will have what your sweet tooth is craving, as well as some sugar- free baked goods. We will also have hotdogs for sale because of the great success last spring. Our yard sale is large, full of bargains, and includes some furniture. Let us hope for good weather.

We have many new items in our craft store in part due to a recent challenge from our treasurer, Lisa Smart ‘to get our store stocked with some new items and replenish what sells.’ Lisa had prizes to motivate everyone.

Our members worked hard and surpassed her expectations, and many were deserving of recognition. We think our customers will enjoy the new items, and a wellstocked store, also.

In August, one of our members, Vickie Damron, was Mrs. August for the VA ‘Wall of Fame.’

She paints and decorates beautiful patriotic and motivational rocks for the VA. In August, she placed 166 decorated rocks in the large planter by the main entrance for the veterans to take as desired. They were quickly gone, and she has since painted more rocks for them, and is always working on a batch. She is TLC’s ‘rock star,’ as well as a very creative crafter, and an awesome person.

She is also responsible for our members becoming involved in an upcoming baby shower for 51 expectant mothers, all women veterans from Eastern Oklahoma.

The whole reason for our organization is to craft with the purpose of raising money for our McIntosh community.

We recently donated to the Backpack Buddies program for the Eufaula schools, as well as La-Donna’s food pantry at Thimbles and Threads.

We are starting to think about Christmas and voted to donate funds to the Texanna Elves and Toy Soldiers, which we do annually.

TLC will be offering gift wrapping for a donation again this year.

I know it seems early to mention it, but many are already Christmas shopping.

We will update you soon about our additional holiday events as they gets closer.

We invite you to come see us on Fridays and Saturdays at 419098 Texanna Rd., right across from Dawn’s Place Cafe. We are open from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
