Members of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority recently named Shirley Davis 2025 Sister of the Year.
A 47-year member, Shirley actively promotes all activities and has opened her home frequently for meetings throughout the years.
On Sept. 9, the Preceptor Gamma Epsilon chapter XP3902 of Beta Sigma Phi opened their 2025-26 year beside the pool at the lovely home of President Gretchen Payne, with Gayle Johnson as co-hostess. After the business meeting, which included the presentation of the budget and reports by officers, Vicki Sisson and Maura McDermott Wood, Vice-President Karen Martin talked about the August boat ride and wiener roast at Lake Eufaula. Then the group enjoyed a salad tasting supper.
Those in attendance in addition to the officers were Shirley Davis, Wilmatine Griffin, Gayle Johnson, Janelle McKnight, Kay Wall and Maura McDermott Wood. Sally Meador and Kathe Smith were missed.
The next meeting will be October 14 at the home of Shirley Davis, with Kathe Smith as co- hostess.
