Letter to the Editor, Facts for Snacks was published in your paper a few months ago, by someone sending in a copy of my email explaining the program. I would like to thank whoever did that for the program.

Facts for Snacks is a joy to be a part of, and I am so proud of all the good it has done. If you are not familiar with the program, it is a series of questions that are asked of the students at the Eufaula Dormitory. In exchange for the answers, the students get to earn snacks. The students can collaborate, use computers or cell phones, or ask staff members to answer all the questions.

What started out as one question for a piece of candy has grown to ten questions and a half page essay for 14 points total. Due to the wonderful contributions, I have received from my family and community, I have been able to do this expansion.

I would like to sincerely thank The Bank of Eufaula, Pepsi Bottling of McAlester, Loves Bottling of Muskogee, Sandy Fowler, Debbie Roberts, Jack Williams, Robyn Burris, Cheryl Gouge, Tammy Graber, and Donna Mack.

These wonderful companies and people have all supplied snacks and toys for the students to earn. Without this support, I would not be able to provide as much. This endeavor costs me hundreds per month, but the benefits that are reaped will continue to outshine the money spent. I would like to thank my husband, David Wood, for supporting me in this and never complaining about the amount spent (too much).

The students at the dormitory have strived to complete these questions daily, and as a result, their grades have vastly improved. I am so proud of each and every one of them.

If you would like more information on the program, you can email me at Mwood@muscogeenation. com or call me at 918-304-3340 Monday-Friday 12-9 pm. If you would like to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for publishing this and bringing attention to this program.

Sincerely, Melanie Wood
