Last year, antlerless harvest made up 48 percent of Oklahoma’s total deer harvest across all hunting seasons. And hunters in 70 of Oklahoma’s 77 counties helped achieve ODWC’s antlerless harvest goals, helping to sustain healthy deer populations statewide. Additionally there were more than 128,000 deer harvested – not a record, but among the highest annual harvest totals to date!
Why does all this matter for sportsmen and women and the future of deer hunting? In short, it puts the state ever closer to a healthier deer herd, better buckto- doe ratios, and most importantly for hunters— bigger antlers and a more intense rut!
