Casey takes second in Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd
By LADONNA RHODES STAFF WRITER

Over the weekend Margaret Casey competed in the Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd where she completed a 100K run and came in second overall female in under 17 hours.

“What a way to spend a whole Saturday!” Casey stated. “This was one tough race! I wanted so bad to quit after the 50K mark! But after some encouragement to suffer a little more pain and put on dry clothes and shoes, my friend Johnny Williams stepped in to join in the suffering with me and helped get me to that finish line.”

Casey didn’t travel to Eagle Bluff alone – a whole group of #Team-Casey friends rallied behind her and beside her to finish the ultramarathon, a grueling 62.13 miles.

“I want to thank my wonderful tribe, Amanda and Whitney Weimer and the baby of the tribe, Jetta Briggs. They drove all the way out to Eagle Bluff to cheer me on and came back to watch me finish. My finish line was the best ever! I have some of the greatest people in my life! Billie Goodwin is always there for me and toughs it out with me in almost every race we run. Michelle Williams Andrews, who I could go on forever about, always sticks around to the end and usually suffers many miles with me. Meghan Morgan is also behind me, pushing me to keep going when I want to stop. There were so many more of my running friends who got me through to the finish line this time. These runners are more like family than just friends and I can’t thank them enough. Also special thanks to all the volunteers who tough it out as well. Without y’all it would not be possible!”

Casey was happy to finish her 100K run but said next time she would be training a little harder because she has her eye on first place next year.
