Lady Ironheads dominate early to defeat Beggs 56-33
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Eufaula Ironheads’ fast start contributed to a 56-33 pounding of the Beggs Lady Demons Friday night at Beggs. It was a game of great ball control, passing and limited turnovers for Eufaula. The game started off with Hannah Needham and Olivia Hamby tormenting Beggs as Hamby scored four of her 12 points. They had help as Ayana Seirs and Ava Neill made themselves known as the out -rebounded Beggs and forced several turnovers to end the first period 17-3.

Kristee Thompson hit a three-pointer to start the second period to make it a 205 game. Then Eufaula rattled off 11 points by Hamby, Lauren Gray, Needham and Neill before Beggs scored again, 31-7. Seirs made a short jumper with 2:04 remaining in the half. Then Thompson made a great rebound, passed it to Neill for two more points as Eufaula went into the break up 3510, by outscoring Beggs 18-7 in the second period.

Ariel Greenlee scored Eufaula’s first points in the third period followed by Johna Bumgarner’s three-pointer. Beggs had no answer for Hamby, Neill or Greenlee as they dominated the paint.

Bumgarner found her spot on the arch scoring three, three-point buckets in the third period. Eufaula controlled the game on both ends of the court and fans could sense the frustration by Beggs.

Gigi Triplet scored 13 points for the Lady Demons with most coming in the third period. Seirs scored another shot in the paint to give Eufaula a 49-14 lead. Eufaula moved the basketball with precision as Gray made a steal and passed the ball to Seirs for another Eufaula score followed by another three-point shot by Bumgarner to end the period 54-25.

Both teams put in their reserve players in the fourth period as the Lady Ironheads went on to win 56-33 on the road over Beggs.

Olivia Hamby led Eufaula with 12 points, Bumgarner 11, Seirs and Neill each had eight points and Gray added six points.

“I’m really proud of how they played tonight. The effort on the floor was what we want every night. I’m very proud of each of these girls and this team,” Eufaula head coach Jason Radomski said.

Eufaula tops Atoka

The Eufaula Lady Ironheads defeated Atoka 25-24 Saturday afternoon at Atoka. Atoka had a chance to win on a last second shot but missed. Johna Bumgarner led Eufaula in scoring with 12 points in the defensive game. Ariel Greenlee scored seven points, Ayana Seirs four points and Olivia Hamby added two in the victory.
