Eufaula Ironheads hang 91 on Morris Eagles
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The No. 9 ranked Eufaula Ironheads scored 91 points against the Morris Eagles at Morris Tuesday. The final score was 91-63 and the Ironheads could have scored a 100 if they wanted to. Eufaula played a total team game plan that left the Eagles bewildered as multiple players scored and forced turnovers. Eufaula took their first lead when Ty Sparks hit a three-pointer to make the game 5-5 early in the first period. Logan Plant was physical as he battled for rebounds on both ends of the court. Jentry James and R’Reon Morrow exploded offensively on the Eagles as they combined for 42 points with Morrow scoring six threepointer shots. The game saw plenty of great assists and passes like Plant grabbing a rebound and

making a great pass to Morrow to make the score 23-15 or Keaton Parish making a steal and scoring in the final seconds of the first period to extend the Ironheads’ lead 27-15. The offensive barrage continued in the second period as Eufaula outscored Morris 27-19 to go into the halftime break up 54-34.

The Ironheads did have a scary moment when Parish made a superman type of save that led him crashing into the wall. Parish did come back into the game in the third period and finished with 9 points.

A huge advantage for Eufaula is the talent they have coming off the bench. Players like Gabe Callison, Doltyn Lane, Brayden O’Brien, Holden Jones, Payden Lanham and others that come off the bench and plays with great intent and effort. The biggest factor for the Ironheads’ winning is their unselfish play on the court. There is no “Ball Hog” on this team and teams that do have a “Ball Hog” are not as successful as the Ironheads are. They are unselfish and disciplined and well coached.

“This is a great group of guys and coach Callison makes it fun to play for him. Each of us knows what are role is on the team and we try are best for each other and coach,” Doltyn Lane said.

Morrow led Eufaula with 22 points, James added 20 points, Parish and Callison each made nine points, Lane eight points and Sparks finished with six points in the victory.

No. 9 Eufaula knocks off No. 4 Kellyville 57-53

It was a game not to be missed. Eufaula opened with homecoming to start the night. After that it was business as both teams looked forward to the showdown. Ninety-eight percent of the time the home team has won this match-up and Friday night was no different as Eufaula held on to win 57-53.

It was a game that saw many lead changes as the Ironheads led by 13 points at one time than trailed by five points. Kellyville was a tough opponent in all areas of the game but it would be the defense by Eufaula that turned the game. Great pressure by Ty Sparks, Doltyn Lane and Jentry James and shooting by Gabe Callison, R R’eon Morrow, James and Keaton Parish ,who fouled out in the third period.

“Last night was a great win for our program. We continue to improve in the areas that matter. One of my biggest concerns coming into this season was, would we be able to win close games. Could we beat people that we weren’t supposed to beat? And over the last seven games we’ve had a couple of chances to prove that we can. I couldn’t be prouder of our guys. All of our guys played great but Jentry James is playing great. He came up with big shot after big shot again last night. Ty did a great job defensively and had a couple of huge rebounds and buckets late. We’re gritty and this was a true team effort. Everyone contributed,” Eufaula head coach Grant Callison said.

Jentry James led Eufaula with 18 points, Morrow 11 points, Parish nine points, Callison eight points and Sparks added seven points.
