big road win Tuesday night as they defeated the Morris Lady Eagles 47-27. Eufaula started off shaky but outscored Morris 9-3 with Lauren Gray and Johna Bumgarner each scoring a three-point basket. The effort in the paint was incredible for Eufaula as Olivia Hamby, Ariel Greenlee, Ava Neill and Kristee Thompson played with more intensity and physicality battling for rebounds.
Eufaula did a great job of blocking shots and forcing Morris out of their shooting lanes.
The guard play was pivotal in the victory as Hannah Needham and Ayana Seirs brought the ball upcourt and set up play after play. Eufaula ended the second period with Gray grabbing a rebound and passing it Seirs for a three-point score to end the half up 20-8.
Eufaula outscored Morris 12-7 in the third period 12-7 but Hamby picked up her fourth foul with 2:00 minutes remaining in the period. But the Lady Ironheads finished strong as Thompson grabbed a rebound and was fouled. She made both free throws to end the period up 32-15.
Eufaula received a huge spark on offense as Briley Gagg scored four three-point buckets to lead all scorers with 12 points. Neill left the game with an ankle injury.
“Ava will be fine. She’s going to ice it down but she should be ready to play against Kellyville on Friday,” Eufaula head coach Jason Radomski said.
Gray and Hamby each finished with six points and Bumgarner added five points for Eufaula.
