A special meeting was called Feb. 26. Mayor Daniel Tarkington called the meeting to order with the following council members present: Councilman Mike Key, Councilman Tony Fields, Councilman Ronnie Brinsfield, Councilman Joey Marion, Councilman Jay Hayes, Councilman Rusty Rogers, and Councilman Rusty Beaver. Then Councilwoman Jodi Greenleaf joined the meeting a couple minutes later.
In scheduled business: • A motion was made to accept the FY 2024-2025 audit as presented by Andy Cromer with HSPG & Associates. The motion carried with all council members voting yes.
• A motion was made and carried by to proceed with the acquisition of the building located at 212 W Spaulding and for Mayor Tarkington to engage with an architect for the project.
• A motion was made to approve another committee’s recommendation of naming the street running north and south on the east side of the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library from West Gentry to West Lafayette in honor Dr. DeLois McGee. The motion carried.
• A motion was made and carried to approve Pay Estimate #7 to Preload LLC in the amount of $170,736.34 for Water System Improvements Project 24PD018.
• A motion was made to appoint Councilman Ronnie Brinsfield and Councilman Jay Hayes to negotiate the MOU Agreement with Checotah, Eufaula, McIntosh County and 911 dispatch services. The motion carried.
Minutes of the Special Checotah Public Works Authority immediately followed the Checotah City Council Special Meeting.
In scheduled business a motion was made by Trustee Tony Fields and seconded by Trustee Jodi Greenleaf to confirm action on city council agenda items 1 through 4. Motion carried with Trustee Mike Key, Trustee Tony Fields, Trustee Joey Marion, Trustee Ronnie Brinsfield, Trustee Daniel Tarkington, Trustee Jay Hayes, Trustee Rusty Rogers, Trustee Jodi Greenleaf, and Trustee Rusty Beaver voting yes.
