An eagles’ nest north of Checotah has been a sacred place for over a decade as locals have had the privilege of watching a pair of North America Bald Eagles raise their young each year at the edge of this small town. Unfortunately, at the beginning of this month, whether it was a result of the high winds and storms or simply fate of the weight of the nest itself, the nest fell causing complete destruction and the loss of newly hatched eaglets that were just beginning to pop their heads up for the world to see.
