Easter weekend was eggs-tra special
By SHAUNA BELYEU GENERAL MANAGER,

McIntosh County Easter weekend was filled with activity, even as spring storms forced a few last-minute changes across the area. At Lake Eufaula State Park and other locations, rising water and soggy conditions led to cancellations, including several scheduled egg hunts. Even the Easter Bunny had to adjust plans, missing some Saturday appearances due to standing water but still making special visits at select events throughout the weekend.

Saturday, Nine Marina ushered in the season with its annual Burning of the Socks celebration, drawing a crowd despite the damp conditions. The event featured free barbecue, photos with the Easter Bunny, on-the-water boat demos, sweet treats from Nine Scoops Ice Cream and live music from the Bad Genes Band, creating a festive start to the weekend.

Despite the weather, church and community events carried on, bringing people together in meaningful ways. Community Culture Church hosted Easter services for families and concluded with lakefront baptisms, where more than 10 individuals took part in the meaningful celebrations.

The day continued with the church’s annual helicopter egg drop at the Eufaula soccer fields, where over 10,000 eggs were dropped from above. Children lined the fields and waited eagerly, as eggs were released from above in a high-energy hunt across the field. Members of the Community Culture team also made sure that all children left with candy, prizes and a warm feeling of belonging.

More than anything, the weekend reflected the heart of Easter, bringing people together in celebration, faith and fellowship.
