Thanksgiving celebrated at Checotah schools
Thanksgiving was celebrated at Checotah Public Schools many different ways this year. Marshall Elementary PreK performed a “Thanksgiving Story” to the delight of many parents and school faculty. A preacher jumped up to say “hallelujah” to the turkeys running across the stage shaking their tail feathers during the play, which was entertaining to all. At the Middle School they held a can drive led by the student council. They raised over $620 and collected 3,143 cans and non-perishable items for the Methodist Missions, showing everyone they know how to give back to the community. This year the winning class was Sharon Scott’s, and they will receive a pizza party. Then Checotah Intermediate had their annual Turkey Olympics that was loud and proud with so many games. The entire day was full of competition between all the classes. Finally, at the end of the day Intermediate Principal Ryan Ambrose announced the winning classes. They were: - 5th grade: LaDonna Utley - 4th grade: Stacy Coleman - 3rd grade: Amber Walker - 2nd grade: Laura Rainbolt. who was the overall winner. No matter how many ways the schools chose to celebrate their Thanksgiving week, they all had fun and were ready for their Thanksgiving break.
