The Visitor Center at Honey Springs Battlefield closed on Monday, August 2 and will remain closed until Saturday, August 14. The closing of the center is due to repairs being made to the driveway and parking lot areas. However, director Adam Lynn wants to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the six interpretive trails with over 50 signs on the battlefield, which will remain open to the public during normal business hours. Due to extreme heat conditions, Lynn suggests everyone to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated while walking the trails and to go earlier during the cooler part of the day.
