At a special city council meeting held Sept. 16, Checotah City Council action was taken on amendment handbook policy changes needed for COVID-19. A motion was moved by Councilman Tony Fields and seconded by Councilman Mike Key to amend the handbook for six months from requiring a doctor?s note if an employee had COVID to prevent possibly the spread of the virus. Employees must also use all their sick leave for COVID related sickness for themselves or their dependents (without a note from doctor) then when all sick leave is depleted they must use either personal time, vacation or comp time. When all leave is depleted they can ask for donated sick leave from fellow coworkers and when that is depleted time off will be unpaid.
