Recently there have been multiple coaching changes at institutions that have had numerous hall of fame coaches on their staffs. I had a deep conversation with a former coach who happened to be a very close friend. The statement he made was one of fact and of great advice. The one thing that I took from my college class of Theory of Coaching Football was to act like a sponge. Absorb all the knowledge you can. Listen to those veteran coaches who have already been down that long road of being a public school coach. Listen to what was successful and what wasn?t successful. This is what he had to say.
