Former University of Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts has become the highest-paid player in NFL history.
According to reports, Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a 5-year, $255 million extension, including just over $179 million guaranteed.
Hurts played three seasons for Alabama before finishing his college career with Oklahoma in 2019 where he was the runner-up to the Heisman Trophy.
Hurts played in 14 games for the Sooners, passing for 32 touchdowns and 3,851 yards. He added another 1,298 yards and 20 scores on the ground.
Hurts was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he developed into the team’s starting quarterback not long after. He led the team to the Super Bowl this past season but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
