Jake Wayne Newell, 32-year-old Pryor resident, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023. Jake was born Sept. 1, 1990 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Checotah and was a 2009 graduate of Checotah High School.

Jake worked for LSB Industries and also owned and operated Cardinal Cleaning Services.

Jake loved being a dad! His favorite activity with Sawyer was to color and paint. He and Kyson would be found enjoying a scary movie or cooking. He also enjoyed football and crawfish boils. He was an avid gamer and liked to play DND.

Jake is survived by his sons, Kyson and Sawyer Newell of Gilbert, Ariz.; parents, Joe Newell of Thrall, Texas, and Mike, Sr. and Robbin Hayes of Checotah, Okla.; brothers, Dustin Newell and wife Heather of Mechanicsburg, Sept. 1, 1990 – June 19, 2023

Penn., Ricky Newell and wife Lizabeth of Pryor, Okla., and Mike Hayes, Jr. and wife Sarah of Pryor; sister, Monica Wyatt and husband Greg of Owasso, Okla.; nieces, Kinzey Newell, Sophia Newell, and Abigail Newell; many other nieces and nephews; and his grandmother, Danna “EI” Minnick.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Pilant officiating.
