DEATH NOTICES

ALVIN, TX – Wilma Marie Knight, 94, formerly of Checotah, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, TX.

OMAHA, TX – Judy Patricia Leonard, 81, formerly of Checotah, concluded her earthly journey on December 27, 2023, at home, surrounded by family.

PORUM – Billy “Babe” Mendenhall, 87, passed away on December 29, 2023 in Porum, OK. Funeral services were held at Heavenly Hope Church in Porum on Friday, January 5, 2024.

HANNA – Danny Monroe Demmitt, 65, passed away on December 29, 2023, in Tulsa, OK. Funeral services were held Friday, January 5 at Integrity Funeral Service Chapel, Henryetta.

TERRELL, TX- Yvonna “Jean” Gibson, 83, formerly of Checotah, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 in Frisco, Texas. A Celebration of Life was held Jan 5 at Jean’s home in Frisco, TX.

MUSKOGEE – Joyce Griffin Reeder, 89, was greeted by her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2024 when she entered the gates of Heaven, after enduring a brief illness. A celebration of life was held Friday, January 5 at New Hope Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK.

ARKOMA – Regina Deneice Castleberry, 67, formerly of Checotah, passed away on January 4, 2024 in Little Rock, AR. Services were held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, OK.

PORUM – Glenda Gayle Lynn, 75, passed away on Thursday January 4, 2024 in Muskogee, OK. Glenda’s private family viewing was held at Add’Vantage Funeral Service Chapel Saturday January 6, 2024. Her funeral services will be held on January 31, 2024 at Coleman Cemetery in Porum, Oklahoma at 1:00 pm.

BROOKEN – Wanda Faye Bray, 72, passed away on January 6, 2024 at Haskell County Nursing Center in Stigler, OK. Cremation arrangements are under the directions of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.

WEBBERS FALLS – Newanna Gail Shamblin (Webb), 62, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11 at Pope Chapel Cemetery in Warner, OK.

OKC – Raymond Howard Gately, 93, formerly of Checotah, passed away Friday, January 7, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK. Funeral Home Services were provided by Absolute Economical Funeral Home LLC.

CHECOTAH – Grover Cleveland Goad, Jr., 97, former Checotah, OK resident, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. A memorial service was held Friday, January 12 at Checotah Church of Christ.

CHECOTAH – Gina Estelle Pulver, 57, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at her home in Checotah, OK. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 3PM at Kelley Memorial Chapel in Eufaula, OK.

CHECOTAH – Edith B. Foster, 85, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 8, 2024. A Friends and Family Visitation was held January 11 at Garrett Family Funeral Home in Checotah, OK.

HENRYETTA – Michael Paul Woods died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Henryetta, OK. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11 at First Baptist Church in Henryetta.

EUFAULA – Stephen Leon “Stevie John” Burns, 68, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home in Eufaula, OK, surrounded by family. Services will be set for a future date to be determined.

CHECOTAH – Raymond Jackson, Sr., 60, slipped the bonds of this earthly realm unto eternity, January 10, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Olive Star Baptist Church.

HANNA – Cleta Darlene Arnhart, 85, passed away on January 10, 2024, in Norman, OK. Graveside services were held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hanna Cemetery.

CHECOTAH – David Walker, 65, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Tulsa, OK. Services are pending at this time.

CHECOTAH-AlvinDearmore, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Checotah, OK on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Services were held Wednesday, January 17 at Checotah Church of Christ.
