Early voting begins March 28

Tuesday, April 2 is election day for school boards. Early voting will be available Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the McIntosh County Courthouse, 110 North 1st Street, Eufaula.

Early voting is not available on Saturday for these elections.

The following entities have candidates: – Eufaula School District, Board Member Office No. 2. Incumbent, Board President Jeff Pippenger faces challenger Meagan Beaver.

– Eufaula School District, Board Member Office No. 4. This is to fill an unexpired term. Former Board Member Kenny Bumgarner faces Jessica Whisenhunt.

– Checotah School District, Board Member Office No. 4. Incumbent Board Member Jackie Farmer is being challenged by Denver Killingsworth.

– Indian Capital Technology Center, Board Member Office No. 4. Incumbent Board President Monte Madewell, who also is Superintendent of Checotah Public Schools, faces challenger David West.

– Dewar School District Special Election (Proposition). Dewar schools are primarily in Henryetta (Okmulgee County) but a small portion of the district is in McIntosh County. District residents are voting on whether to approve a $320,000 bond issue to improve the schools.

McIntosh County Election Board Secretary Janelle McKnight says voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, or who missed the March 18 deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail, may vote early at the County Election Board, located at the Courthouse, 110 North 1st Street, Eufaula.

Sample ballots are available using the Online Voter Portal at www.ok.gov/elections and will be posted on the social media Facebook page of the Mc-Intosh County Election Board.
