A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 29-year-old Enid woman for abandoning a dog at a Checotah residence.
Jazmine Shaneen Roberts reportedly left the dog at the home of Letha and Shawn Roberts and then disappeared.
Police officer Ryan Goad said on July 17 he received a call about an abandoned dog at the Sourjohn residence.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Letha Sourjohn reported that the previous day Roberts asked her if she could leave a suitcase and a dog with her overnight while Roberts sought a ride.
Sourjohn said Roberts could leave the suitcase, but not the dog.
The next day Roberts was gone, and the dog had been abandoned.
“Letha made contact with Jazmine and told her she would be contacting the dog catcher if she didn’t pick up her dog,” according to the report, “and Jazmine told her to go ahead, she couldn’t take care of the dog.”
A misdemeanor criminal warrant for abandonment of a domestic animal on a road was issued for Roberts on Aug. 30.
