Shellie Mae Lane

Shellie Mae Lane, aged 59, formerly of Checotah and residing in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1966, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was the beloved daughter of Deborah Joan (Duncan) Degraffenreid and her husband, Elmer Degraffenreid and James Lane.

Shellie was a passionate entrepreneur, owning and operating her own restaurant.

In her leisure time, she found joy in visiting flea markets and yard sales.

Her love for nature was evident as she enjoyed hunting mushrooms and wild onions, as well as planting flowers and houseplants.

Above all, Shellie cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and the simple pleasure of sipping a Dr. Pepper.

Shellie is survived by her sons, Joshua Lane and his wife, Cassie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Adam Lane and his wife, Gabby of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; her cherished grandchildren, Rylee, Hailey (affectionately known as Mae Mae) and Laykin.

Shellie also leaves behind her siblings, Melina Goatcher of Onapa, Oklahoma, Mark Purscelley and his wife, Deanna of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Freeman Degraffenreid and his wife, Stacie of Texanna, Oklahoma and Joanie Thomasson of Hitchita, Oklahoma; her best friend of 54 years, Donda Quintanilla and her husband, Guadalupe (Killer) Quintanilla Jr. of Eufaula, Oklahoma also mourn her loss, as do numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Shellie was held Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m .at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Checotah, Oklahoma. The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral services celebrating Shellie’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church, 116389 S. 4240 Rd., Eufaula, Oklahoma 74432.

Interment will follow at Triplett Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
