The Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library has a new librarian and library clerk.
Patrons got to meet their new librarian Cristin Arnett last month.
Cristin has joined the Checotah team from the Hulbert branch of the library system. She is a mother of two and hails from Fort Gibson. She’s also an NSU graduate and is pursuing an MLIS at OU.
When Cristin’s not doing librarian things, she enjoys yoga, hiking, traveling, concerts and rock hunting. She’s also the proud owner of a 1977 VW Van and previously lived completely off-grid and self-sufficient for five years!
“Libraries are amazing places!” Cristin said. “They are for all people of all ages and there is something for everyone! As a career, I can’t see myself doing anything else. This has been the most fulfilling work I have ever done.”
Everyone stop by the local library and wish Cristin a warm welcome to Checotah!
The Checotah Library also has a new library clerk, Christian Phillips.
Christian brings a unique blend of creativity and knowledge to the team, having attended both Savannah College of Art and Design and Fordham University. He has worked on multiple projects such as The Girl From Plainville (Hulu Series), Halloween Ends, and The Color Purple, a Musical Movie.
Christian is eager to assist everyone with their library needs. His passion for learning and dedication to service make him a wonderful addition to the Checotah Library.
When he’s not busy with all things library, Christian enjoys reading, writing, hiking, photography, making short films, and turning VHS tapes into lights. He also has a furry friend, Salem, a black cat.
Please extend a warm Checotah welcome to Christian!
