Earlier this month, WildCare Oklahoma received thrilling news—we were selected as one of only five animal welfare finalists in North America for the Land Rover Defender Service Award, chosen from among hundreds of incredible nonprofits across the continent.
The award includes a brand-new Defender 130 vehicle and a $30,000 grant, generously provided by sponsors including Disney.
If won, the grant from this award will pay for the materials needed for the University of Oklahoma School of Architecture to build a first-of-its-kind bat and chimney swift enclosure— their 5th year design/build project for 2025/2026!
Even more exciting, after a round of public voting, we’ve just learned that WildCare Oklahoma is one of the top two finalists!
To say we’re honored and overjoyed would be an understatement. The winner will be announced on November 15, at the Destination Defender event in Temecula, California.

The outpouring of encouragement from YOU, community partners like the Oklahoma City Zoo, University of Oklahoma School of Architecture, Wild Heart Ranch, Joel Sartore and his team at the National Geographic Photo Ark, The Pigeon Museum, Bob Moore Auto Group, and so many more, volunteers, and followers has been nothing short of inspiring.
