The annual Turkey Olympics are an exciting holiday tradition at Checotah Intermediate School (CIS) but Friday proved to be bittersweet when one beloved teacher Lacie Williams was saying goodbye to her students and coworkers not just for Thanksgiving Break but for good.
“Friday was a day of many emotions as I said ‘see you later’ to my incredible CIS family and students,” Williams said.
Williams will be leaving the classroom to become a career coach at Work Ready Oklahoma.
“For the past 18 years, it has been an absolute honor and joy to be a part of this community. I have had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most amazing, dedicated people, and it has been a privilege to teach so many wonderful fourth graders. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the countless memories, lessons learned and the family we built together. I will miss you all immensely!
“While a piece of my heart will always be with my CIS family, I am absolutely thrilled to share the exciting news about my future!
“I am officially starting a new adventure at Work Ready Oklahoma. I will be stepping into the role of a Facilitator and Career Coach, helping adults find their career path including remote jobs and so much more. This work is so important and I know that by helping adults succeed I will continue to help impact children’s lives in a meaningful way.”
Williams definitely has impacted so many children’s lives during her teaching career and wished well on her new career choice by CIS Principal Ryan Ambrose that had all the CIS students give her a huge shout out during their Turkey Olympics.
“Though leaving is hard I’m happy to report that this year my homeroom class brought the 4th grade turkey trophy back to our classroom for the 5th year in a row. Even though I won’t get to see it displayed, my students will be able to look at it each day and know how hard they worked as a team to earn it. I hope they not only remember me but also all the special times at CIS.”
