Ray Edward Peckham

August 2, 1948 – December 14, 2025

Ray Edward Peckham was born on August 2, 1948, to John A. and Mary Frances Peckham. Ray entered eternal life on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in the comfort of his home with his daughter, Wendy, by his side.

Ray was 77 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Checotah, Oklahoma, and a man deeply rooted in family and community.

After graduating from high school, he proudly spent time serving in the military. Upon returning home, Ray worked at the Federal Building where he aided and assisted many individuals over the years. He later retired to focus on what mattered most to him – caring for his family and tending to his farm.

Ray had a love for racing, enjoying countless Friday nights at the track before eventually racing one himself. Though he was known as a quiet and humble man, those who knew him well, knew he could talk anyone’s ear off once the conversation got going. He was kind, caring and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Wendy Logan; his sister, Linda Mayhall; his grandchildren, Adam Logan and his wife, Shelby and Amber Meeks and her husband, Dylan; his great grandchildren, Heavyn, Mackenzie, Alayna, Jayla, Tate, Raylan and Jensen. He is also survived by two great-great grandchildren, Rayden and Cyrus, along with many nieces, nephews and countless friends, including his dear lifelong friend, Gary Davis.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Peckham; his loving wife, Janice Peckham; his sister, Grace Cather and brother, John C. Peckham.

Ray will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who know and loved him.

Viewing and visitation was on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 and Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family greeting friends starting at 4 p.m. each day at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Checotah.

A funeral service for Ray was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426 with Rev. David L. Metz officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers were Adam Logan, Dylan Meeks, Jair Mayhall, Gary Davis, Jason Cooper and Guadalupe “Killer” Quintanilla Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers were Max Keefover, Albert “Junior” Cooper, Danny Yount and Jay Emerson.

Arrangements were entrusted to Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
