Every day I turn on the news I hear of more senseless killings. Headlines read “A senseless act” when a 15-year-old shoots and kills an Uber driver on New Year’s Day. One was working a holiday to make ends meet, while another was just a child, yet a child who would rather rob someone than work and then robbed a family of their father. Another reads “Heartbreaking senseless violence” when instead of going on a shopping spree, a 24-year-old goes on a shooting spree. Now we have America divided once again on another senseless killing of an unarmed woman shot and killed by an ICE officer who held a gun to her head as he held onto her door yet somehow we are supposed to believe the conclusion of authorities though videos show a completely different view. Where is the accountability to protect life, not take it? How are we supposed to keep closing our eyes to the injustices happening in our country? It’s so scary to think that children are killing for senseless reasons but it’s even scarier to me that trained men are doing the same in the name of justice.
