Larry George Drabek

April 13, 1949 – February 2, 2026

Larry George Drabek, 76, of Porum, OK passed away Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born Wednesday, April 13, 1949, to George and Letha (Marshall) Drabek in Oklahoma City, OK. Larry grew up in the Oklahoma City area and graduated from U.S. Grant High School. After high school he entered the United States Air Force Reserve.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Larry worked in quality control in manufacturing. Later he began working for the U.S. Postal Service, programming and setting up new distribution practices. Larry retired at the age of 62. He married Martha Solomon on February 14, 1986.

Larry loved collecting model trains and had a collection of over 1000 pieces. He was a strong supporter of the American Diabetes Association for 50 years. Larry played the dobro and guitar and enjoyed playing Blue Grass and Country Music. He was known as “Dobro Larry” and played every Wednesday at the nursing home and jam sessions on Thursday with his friends. Larry was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, where he played every Sunday. He will be dearly missed by all that loved and knew him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Pete Farris.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Martha of the home; his children Clint Drabek of Norman, OK; Ronda “Ro” and husband Nathan Johnson of Piedmont, OK; and Chad Drabek; his grandchildren, Bridgett, Chasteen, Macy and Chad “Junior”; his sister Brenda Farris of Shawnee. Larry is also survived by other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Larry will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, 4:00pm, at Freedom Baptist Church, 429685 Texanna Rd. Porum, OK. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Larry’s memory to American Diabetes Association.
