Sallisaw steamrolls Lady Wildcats 67-18
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds had another highlight game, this time it was against the Checotah Lady Wildcats (4-17) who fell 6718 at Sallisaw. Emma Martin found her spot on the court and rained down three, threepointers in the first period. Checotah struggled to cover the Sallisaw guards as Jaycie Cox and Katelyn Carlton scored from the outside and Hannah Palmer battled Nikia Carr inside the paint. Sallisaw outscored Checotah 21 to 5 in the first period and 22-2 in the second period as they took a 43-7 lead into the halftime break.

Checotah senior Shyanne Madewell, playing with a torn ACL, was held to just three points.

Sallisaw held the Lady Wildcats to just nine points in the second half of the game to seal the 67-18 win.

Nikia Carr led Checotah with six points; Alana Madding two points and Kailynn Thrail added five points in the loss.

Carlton led all scorers with 11 points; Cox 10 points and Palmer added seven points.

Stilwell tops Checotah 49-29

The Stilwell Lady Indians rolled to a 49-29 win over the Checotah Lady Wildcats on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats led to end the first period 8-6 on a pair of Logan Dowdy three-pointers, but Stilwell came roaring back as they outscored Checotah 16-9 in the second period and took a 22-17 lead into the halftime break. The Lady Indians used great rebounding and forced turnovers to extend their lead.

Taylor Croley had 13 points and Mady George added 14 points for Stllwell.

Sallisaw buzz saw continues

The Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds (14-5, 6-1) continued their dominance in district action as they defeated Checotah 63-24 Friday night at Checotah. The Sallisaw defense held Checotah to just four points in the second period and two points in the final period.

The Lady Wildcats gave a worthy effort but Sallisaw just had too many weapons. Sallisaw’s Alayna Trammell scored 28 points and the team scored 13 three-point baskets in the victory.
