Ronnie Allen McQuay

Ronnie Allen McQuay

Ronnie Allen Mc-Quay, a lifelong resident of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his family in his final moments.

Ronnie was born on November 15, 1948, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Roy “Red” McQuay and Margaret McQuay. He spent nearly his entire life in and around Eufaula and graduated from Eufaula High School in 1967.

An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie spent most of his life on the water or in the woods—fishing the lake or chasing wild game. He was a phenomenal bass fisherman, winning countless tournaments across the state. His reputation on the water was so strong that in the mid-1980s, he was approached by his friend Jimmy Huston about becoming a full-time fishing guide on Lake Eufaula and surrounding lakes. But those who knew Ronnie knew he wasn’t about to give up his secret spots.

In his later years, as life and health slowed him down, Ronnie found a new passion in his cellular trail cameras. He took great joy in watching and rewatching the activity at his feeders, often sharing stories— again and again—about the big bucks and massive hogs that would come through. He even installed a green motion-sensor light to capture clearer nighttime images of the wildlife he loved so much. Many mornings, he could be found at his favorite breakfast spot, I Smell Bacon, enjoying coffee and good company with his morning crew. And when he was back home, he was often watching his favorite hunting and fishing shows.

Above all, Ronnie was a proud father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy “Red” and Margaret McQuay; his brother, Brian McQuay; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his four children: Coby McQuay of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Cory Mc-Quay Moore of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Ronnie Tyson McQuay and wife Jennifer of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and Melissa McQuay of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his three sisters, Carolyn Ridgway, Rose Jones, and Connie McQuay of Norman, Oklahoma; and his uncle, Bo McQuay of Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Ronnie was a proud grandfather to Bria Lee of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Braylea Lee of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Brooklyn Lee of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Emric Moore and Ericsson Moore of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; AJ Gastellum of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Lexy Whitlock (Logan) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jazlyn Potter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Connor McQuay and Pierce McQuay of Bonner Springs, Kansas.

Ronnie will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his storytelling, his independence, and the deep pride he carried for his family. His presence on the lake, in the woods, and around the table will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Bower Cemetery in Longtown.
