Wilhite leads Wildcats in shutout of Eufaula
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

Checotah (18-4) rode a masterful performance from pitcher Ace Wilhite to a commanding 6-0 victory over Eufaula (2-9) on Thursday, as the Wildcats controlled the game from the mound to the base paths.

Wilhite was nearly untouchable, firing a onehit shutout and keeping Eufaula off the scoreboard from start to finish. The right-hander set the tone early and never let up, silencing the Ironheads’ bats with a poised and efficient outing.

Checotah broke through in the second inning, capitalizing on a Eufaula error to plate the game’s first run. From there, the Wildcats steadily built momentum, applying pressure both at the plate and on the bases.

Kross Stauffer delivered a big night from the nine-hole, driving in two runs to spark the Checotah offense. Camden Ferguson led the hit parade, going 2-for-4, while Eli Patterson and Jake Patterson created havoc on the base paths. As a team, the Wildcats swiped nine bases, turning singles into scoring threats and keeping Eufaula’s defense on edge all game long.

Eufaula’s Kace Bell battled on the mound, striking out eight including Mason Rainbolt over five and two-thirds innings while allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits, but struggled to slow Checotah’s aggressive approach.

Offensively, Eufaula managed just one hit on the day, with Chase Bumgarner going 1-for-3 to account for the Ironheads’ lone knock.

Behind Wilhite’s dominant arm and a relentless offensive attack, Checotah put together a complete performance that left little doubt from first pitch to final out.

Kiefer hands Checotah third loss 2-0 Mason Rainbolt of Checotah was electric on the mound, racking up 12 strikeouts, but Checotah Varsity Wildcats came up just short in a gritty 2-0 loss to Kiefer on Monday.

In a game dominated by pitching, both teams brought the heat. Rainbolt allowed just two hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, battling through 10 walks while keeping Checotah within striking distance. Kiefer’s ace matched him pitch-forpitch, striking out a staggering 16 Wildcats and tossing a one-hit shutout.

The deadlock finally broke in the third inning when Kiefer delivered a clutch double to plate the game’s first run. Kiefer added just enough insurance to hold off Checotah the rest of the way.

Despite the loss, the Wildcats showed discipline and toughness. Traegan Duvall led the offense, going 1-for-3 and accounting for Checotah’s lone hit. Defensively, the Wildcats were flawless—turning in a clean game with no errors. Ace Wilhite anchored the effort with 14 defensive plays.

Kiefer’s lineup found just enough rhythm, delivering key hits and each driving in a run. Patience at the plate also paid off, as Kiefer drew 10 walks to help manufacture scoring opportunities.

Though the scoreboard didn’t fall their way, Checotah’s performance proved they can go toe-to-toe in a highlevel pitching duel.

Checotah fell to Kiefer 9-6 on Tuesday.
