Wildcats punch ticket to State Cross-Country meet

Eufaulas Chapman places 30th

The Checotah Lady Wildcats placed ninth overall with a total time of 1:23:08 in the 2-mile run. Bethel won the event (1:08:00) followed by Keys (1:12:35) and Tahlequah Sequoyah (1:14:36) placed third to round out the top the teams.

Checotah’s Ruby Folkner placed 12th overall with a time of 14:26.93 and teammate Jule Schweda place 35th with a time of (15:40.23). Both girls qualified for the State meet next week at Edmond Santa Fe.

Checotah’s Emmalie Madding placed 57th, Aiana Brewer 62nd, Rachel Stauffer 65th and Nah Cloud 66th.

The Checotah Boys team punched their ticket as they placed sixth overall with a total time of 1:47:27. Heavener won the event with a time of (1:34:25) followed by Tahlequah Sequoyah (1:38:18) and Keys placed third with a time of (1:42:16).

Steven Cru of Heavener won the event with a time of 17:24.35 followed by Rian Nofire of Tahlequah Sequoyah 18:16.24 and Rian Studie of Colcord placed third with a time of 18:34.89.

Checotah’s Iaah Tde led the Wildcats placing 18th with time of 20:05.76 followed by teammates C Hunt 23rd, Mitchell Tanner 33rd, Hudson Pollard 34th, Wes Brown 39th, Ja’’on Gearhart 49th and Jace Clark 64th.

“I’m really proud of how we competed today. It’s a tough course with a lot of great athletes. The competition was fierce but we prevailed. I’m so excited for those that made the cut to the state meet but I’m very proud of how everybody ran today. This is a special group of kids and its an honor to be able to coach them,” Checotah head coach Jason Dowdy said.

Eufaula’s Chapman State bound Eufaula’s Levi Chapman placed 30th overall with a time of 21:46.67 and punched his ticket the state meet at Edmond Santa Fe. Kaln Holman placed 52nd 16:34.26 and Kotone Wolf 72nd with a time of 20:03.59.
