Freedom House Spring Luncheon was definitely ‘Over & Above’
By LADONNA RHODES STAFF WRITER,

Freedom House held their Spring Luncheon and Graduation on Saturday, April 25 at Summit Christian Academy in Broken Arrow.

The theme was Over and Above and was quite fitting with the scripture chosen this year. Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish indefinitely, more than we might ask or think.”

As students gave testimonies on how God had sent them free from all sorts of addictions, tears flowed amongst the audience in attendance. Especially when one young lady told of the abuse in her home which led to her addictions, but then she nailed all that shame to the cross, and has been set free from her past forever.

Another young lady, Patricia, wrote a beautiful poem entitled, God Sent Me to Checotah. She read the poem aloud.

“God sent me to Checotah to strengthen my soul.

He knew from the moment of conception, my little love I would never hold.

I put on an act like I was okay.

I will never forget that Thanksgiving Day.

God sent me to Checotah Because He sees something in me.

And He wants me to be still I still have a lot to learn and heal.

God sent me to Checotah To show me a different way to fight.

It is God who arms me with strength and gave me courage to take that flight.

God sent me to Checotah To open the door, no one else can shut.

He sent me here to renew my mind and feel His touch.

God sent me to Checotah To save my life this time He knew I needed to put the past behind.

God sent me to Checotah in the nick of time.”

Once again, the crowd was moved by the raw and real testimonies of so many precious ladies and gave them all a standing ovation for their accomplishments in completing the Adult & Teen Challenge program which is 12-15 months discipleship program.

There were also special guest presentations as volunteers and ministers were honored for their work with the ladies of Freedom House.

A Silent Auction was also held with many nice baskets and items to bid on. All the proceeds go back into the ministry of Freedom House that never turns away a lady in need.

Julie Tittjung also honored Kathy Love for being such a great director and gave her a bouquet of flowers from the ladies and a beautiful handmade pearl and diamond set of earrings and a necklace from the staff for her leadership.

She then reminding everyone, “For a pearl of great price is what we all are to God.”
