Sentences suspended as long as pair gets drug treatment

Over 12 months ago Jasper Eli Wade Reynolds, 34, and Shannie Renea Stokesberry, 48, were arrested following a highspeed chase in Checotah that began at the Walmart parking lot.

They were arrested Sept. 15, 2022.

Stokesberry was charged with endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs; possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

After multiple hearings, Stokesberry pleaded guilty on June 1 of this year and was sentenced by District Judge Mike Hogan to four years in the department of corrections on counts 1 and 2, with the sentences suspended upon completing one year of rehab; and on counts 3 and 4, one year suspended; on count 5, six months suspended with meth registry and counts to run concurrently and proof of rehab to be provide to the district attorney and court clerk.

Reynolds was charged with possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction; possession of a sawed-off shotgun; possession of a controlled substance; unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and escape from arrest or detention.

He pleaded no contest to the charges on Oct. 19 of this year and was sentenced by Judge Hogan to 10 years in prison on counts 1 and 2, with the sentences suspended; one year on counts 3, 4 and 5 with sentences suspended, meth registry required on all counts and cases to run concurrently.

While awaiting resolution of the Sept. 15, 2022 case, Reynolds acquired a number of other charges in several other cases, including assault and battery, to which he pleaded guilty and agreed to drug court treatment.

Also, possession of CDS; possession of drug paraphernalia; transporting opened container of beer/intoxicating beverage; driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked/ and not wearing a seatbelt.

Also, another charge of driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked which he was hit with on Nov. 11, a month before he pleaded guilty to other charges.

All sentences were suspended as long as he remains in drug court. If he fails drug court, he will spend one year in the county jail.
