This year the City of Checotah has stepped up the Christmas Tree Lighting Program Competition. There will be a total of 12 Christmas Trees available for the contest with a $25 entry fee. These trees down S. Broadway will be chosen by businesses and organizations to decorate them as bright as they possibly can to light up the downtown area and win bragging rights as being the “biggest and brightest” to Light the Way to Christmas.

There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and all twelve trees will be featured in the 2024 city calendar and in the local newspaper.

All trees must be lit up by Nov. 24.

Judging will be on Dec. 2 by the mayor of Checotah, Checotah City Council and the Checotah Chamber of Commerce. After the Christmas parade, winners will be announced on Dec. 4 at Veterans Park during the new “Christmas in the Park” event.
