Public invited to celebrate
The Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library’s long-time Children’s Librarian, Beth Sherrill, has announced her plans to retire March 1.
“Our summer theme for 2024 is, ‘Adventure Begins at Your Library.’ I know that is the truth,” Sherrill said. “For the last 25 years, I have lived it at the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library! Now it is time to embark on a new adventure-Retirement! I will miss you all and wish everyone well as you continue your library adventures!”
Branch Manager Kenny Matthews said Beth’s enthusiasm and creativity will be greatly missed.
“The impact that Beth has had on the lives of the people of Checotah cannot be overstated,” Matthews said. “For a quarter of a century, she has helped to develop a love of reading in multiple generations of children. For so many people in Checotah, Beth is the library.”
A reception in her honor will be held at the library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 26 and the public is invited to come celebrate her retirement.
