Both instructors are excited about the growth they see in their students and are especially grateful for the support of the community.

“I, as well as all of the students, greatly appreciate all of the support the community has for the Checotah Agricultural Education and FFA Program,” Ilbery said. “The students have worked extremely hard on show day, as well as throughout the year, to properly care and maintain their livestock projects. Even if some didn’t make the premium sale, they did their best. So I couldn’t be more enthusiastic to see the success of our local kids!”

Ilbery, who is a 2016 Checotah graduate, knows the importance of having a great hometown and having the support for the agricultural program.

“We are just so grateful to have such a great support system here in Checotah. We have the support of the local school board and administration: Monte Madewell, Superintendent; Jennifer Campbell, HS Principal; Heather Jones, HS Asst. Principal; and the Checotah School Board members.

“We also have good people like Jerry and Pat Jefferies, who we want to thank for their unwavering support and dedication to the Checotah 4H and FFA program.

“When we had the State Champion Livestock Judging Team Ring Ceremony, First Family Federal Credit Union sponsored the state championship rings for the team members: Shayla Dismukes, Jade McPeak, Chayda Carpenter, and Klaer Foreman.

“We also have the Checotah Masonic Lodge #86 and we want to thank them for their continuous support and always matching funds. We couldn’t do what we love without everyone’s help and we are eternally grateful to all.”
