Ironheads sweep Roland Rangers

The Eufaula Ironheads defeated the Roland Rangers on Tuesday at Roland 6-4 to complete a home and away series. The Ironheads roared back in the seventh inning with six runs in a District 3A-7 showdown. Eufaula pitcher Hayden Robinson was on fire, striking out 11 batters as he earned the win and surrendered four runs on five hits in over seven innings of work. The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Connor McAllister was struck by a pitch that drove in the first run for Eufaula (5-5, 3-3). The Ironheads added five more runs on three hits, led by a three run home run by JP Hicks and Draven Gragg singled in the top of the seventh to take a 6-0 lead.

Hicks finished l-for-3 with 3 RBIs, McAllister, Gragg and Robinson each had an RBI.

“I’m excited about this team and their will to dig deep and overcome obstacles. I thought we did a good job of containment but we have to improve on our mistakes and we will,” Eufaula head coach Josh Luna said.

On Monday the Ironheads bounced back to the win column after falling to Checotah 9-8 on Friday. The Ironheads rolled over the Roland Rangers 13-3 at Eufaula. Big Connor McAllister led the Ironheads at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored. Carson Luna started things for the ironheads in the first inning when he connected on a double to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Rangers came back and tied the game 1-1 in the third inning.

In the bottom of the fifth the Ironheads (4-5, 2-3 District 3A-7) took control as they put up five runs to go up 6-1. Senior Draven Gragg got the win from the mound in five innings as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. Luna finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, Dawson Hughes was l-for-3 with two RBIs. as Eufaula collected 12 hits.
