Williams wins Sue Ann Saltsman Award; Mills wins Junior Golding Award; Noriega /Watkins wins Paul & Lucille Bell Scholarship

The Eufaula All-Sports Banquet took place on Monday and was very entertaining and exciting. Eufaula head Softball coach Ryan Green was named the Eufaula Indian Journal Coach of the Year. Green led the Lady Ironhead fast-pitch team to the school’s first ever State tournament and finished with a 23-13 record and guided Eufaula to a 19-9-1 record in slow-pitch.

“Green displays the characteristics of a great coach: discipline, preparation, work ethic and professionalism. He plays his best players and isn’t influenced by parents. Every since he took over the softball program it has flourished, developed great athletes and cemented its place among some of Oklahoma’s best programs,” Eufaula Indian Journal Sports Editor Rodney Haltom said in his speech.

“Thank you very much. This is quite the honor. I appreciate this very much and part of this belongs to our athletes and assistant coaches. Thank you very much,” Green said.

Seniors Kambry Williams was selected as the Sue Ann Saltsman Award winner and Landon Mills was selected as the Junior Golding Award winner going to the students who excelled in the classroom, athletics and community.

Seniors Gabby Noriega and Gavin Watkins were named the recipients of the Paul and Lucille Bell Scholarships.
