Electric Storm Does Much Damage

Possibly the most severe electric storm in the history of the old Indian Territory side visited this section Friday night and for fully two hours piercing lightning and almost deafening peals of thunder followed each other in rapid succession, accompanied by rain almost amounting to a small deluge.

A Run on Gentry

The delivery horse owned by Allen & Smith and driven by Washington Dale created considerable excitement on Gentry Avenue yesterday afternoon. The horse became unmanageable near the depot when a portion of the harness broke and started in a mad race up the avenue.

The cart collapsed when opposite the Cantrell Mercantile store and Dale landed in the middle of the street while the horse, after hitting the sidewalk, slid into the alley.

Howard, who had been at large since he walked off from the county jail, was arrested by Special Officer Bill Counts, Chief of Police Lee Looper and Deputy Sheriff Save Martin west of Checotah on information furnished by a resident of the city who saw Howard sitting in his stranded automobile.
