Holly Lackey is the new face of the Chamber
By LADONNA RHODES STAFF WRITER

Checotah local, Holly Lackey, is now the new face of the Checotah Chamber of Commerce.

Lackey has taken a part-time position at the Chamber and will be available from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. each week day to answers questions, concerns and help with Chamber activities throughout the year.

Lackey is no stranger to many in the Checotah community as she has volunteered for many years at events as a photographer and helper. Her familiar face along with her amazing photos have graced the local newspaper, along with their award-winning Focus magazine, and just recently the Tulsa Metro Women on Fire calendar which raises money for Hydrants of Hope that donates to pediatric cancer patients. Since becoming a volunteer firefighter for the Paradise Point Fire Department, Lackey has also volunteered for the First Responders Therapy Dog Program to help relieve the stress of local first responders with her pup named Panda.

With a huge passion for wildlife and photography, of course Lackey is also a naturalist, sometimes called the “Snake Lady” because not only does she love to capture snakes with her camera, she also will come to the rescue of a snake and offer free non-venomous and venomous snake removal, will transport other wildlife, like baby opossums, bats, squirrels, etc to registered wildlife rehabbers for a second chance at life. Lackey has spoken to several local organizations of the benefits of all snakes and other critters like helpful opossums that eat ticks and other pests.

During her down time Lackey, who is a member of the Checotah Art Guild, likes to paint anything from canvases, to rocks to find around town or the walking trail out at the Checotah Sports Complex, to even model horses which she likes to sell at art shows at the Heartland Heritage Museum and Gallery.

She also loves weather and storms and is a volunteer storm spotter, taking pictures of crazy cloud formations, lightning and beautiful rainbows to share with her social media friends.

Lackey can’t wait to prove she is a great asset to the Checotah Chamber of Commerce and the local businesses.

For information, contact her at 918-473-2070 or stop in at the Checotah Chamber of Commerce.
