The Artist of the Month for September at the Heartland Heritage Museum and Gallery is Tracy Jackson. Tracy’s artistic journey began in high school where she was mentored by artist Willa Albee. She also took several art classes at East Central University in Ada.
After a successful teaching career, Tracy’s passion for art was reignited when she joined the Checotah Art Guild. Her medium of choice is oil, where she specializes in creating breathtaking landscapes, sunsets and florals.
“Tracy has participated in several art shows in the Checo-tah area, including Art in the Park, Old Settlers’ Day, 4th of July events, Veterans Day Art Show, as well as activities centered around our area children,” said Iris Park, Director of the Gallery & Museum. “She has also participated in the Rentiesville’s Dusk ‘til Dawn Blues Festival painting faces at the Kids’ Korner.”
In addition to painting, Tracy enjoys bowling, gardening, reading, boating and fishing on Lake Eufaula. She also enjoys spending quality time with family, friends, and is a member of the Checotah Church of Christ.
“Tracy is a valuable addition to the community, as well as the Gallery, where she serves as the Checotah Art Guild Secretary.” Park added. “She serves on the Heartland Heritage Center Board of Directors as well and volunteers in the Gallery and the H & H Gift Shoppe. We couldn’t get along without her.”
