Eufaula Cross Country team competes at Henryetta meet

The Eufaula Ironhead boys’ cross-country team competed at the Henryetta Meet on Saturday. The course at Henryetta is one of the most challenging cross-country courses in eastern Oklahoma. The hills and valleys pose to be major factors for athletes.

In Class 3A-4A Holland Hall placed first as a team with a time of 19:37.20 followed by Berryhill 20:17.34 and Bristow 21:23.21 to round out the top three. Eufaula placed fourth with a time of 21:27.83.

In individuals, Jodai Sama Salinas of Sallisaw placed first with a time of 18:22.97 and Andrik Ramirez (18:31.59) and Moritz Scheferhoff (18:36.74) of Holland Hall placed second and third.

Baylor Bohannon led the charge for the Eufaula Ironheads placed 6th with a time of 19:26.97. Decarlo Noriega placed 13th with a time of 21:00.12, Levi Chapman placed 16th with a time of 21:02.14, Xander Smietanski placed 23rd with a time of 22:19.79, Gerald Colenutt placed 34th with a time of 23:30.41Kyler Chiles placed 42nd with a time of 25:05.11, Hunter Fletcher placed 44th with a time 26:06.56 and Cayden Moore finished with a time 27:05.74 to round out the Eufaula team.

“I was very pleased with how everyone ran on Saturday. Henryetta is a challenging course and I thought we handled it well. Our girls’ team didn’t make the trip. This was a tough course with a lot of great athletes taking part in today’s race,” Eufaula head coach Derek Gray said.

In the girls’ race Henryetta placed first as team with a time of 15:42.23, Little Axe placed second 15:35.41 and Keys placed third with a time of 15:49.98.

In Class 2A, Stroud won first place as a team with a time of 21:29.48 followed by Wright City 21:17.38 and Canadian 27:29.44 to round out the top three teams. Coulter Drake of Warner was high individual with a time of 18:15.12, Aiden Young and Cal Shields of Stroud placed second and third to round out Class 2A.
