University of Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso, who has led the Sooners to four straight national championships, has been rewarded with a historic pay raise.
The OU Board of Regents approved a deal that made Gasso the first softball coach to average at least $2 million annually.
Gasso’s new deal keeps her under contract through the 2028 season. She will earn $1.9 million this season. Her salary will increase by $100,000 each year, which will put her at $2 million annually next season.
Gasso also saw the unveiling of her statue at Love’s Field in Norman. She has won more than 1,500 games, including an NCAA-record 71 consecutive in a streak that ended early in the 2024 season.
The board also approved a pay increase for Sooners baseball coach Skip Johnson, who led his program to a Big 12 championship last season. Johnson will make $1 million this year. His deal included a contract extension through the 2029 campaign.
Assistant coaches on both the baseball and softball staff received pay raises.
