Several students make EDBDA Honor Band

Several students make EDBDA Honor Band

After a soggy rivalry game on Friday night where the Class of Checotah performed for Wildcat fans even in the pouring rain. Several Checotah Band students were up and out the door early Saturday, Nov. 4, to compete for a chair in the Eastern District Band Directors Association (EDBDA) Honor Band, with auditions starting at 7:30 a.m. and going until 3:30 p.m.

The students who make the honor band will join other band students from other schools for the clinic and concert in January.

The following students who made the EDBDA Honor Band were:

7th Grade

Andrea Paguada – 5th Chair Horn Grady Cook – 3rd Chair Trumpet Vivian Bone – 6th Chair Trumpet Daniel Boland – 2nd Chair Trombone Dax Comages – 1st Alternate Trombone Grayson Kaler – 1st Alternate Euphonium

Jr High

Kitana Williams – 5th Chair Flute Aleyah Guy – 2nd Alternate Flute Addington Miller 9th Chair Clarinet Raylynn Parks – 4th Chair Horn Allison Ricard – 4th Chair Euphonium

High School

Alivya Strong – 2nd Chair Flute Payton Peddy – 10th Chair Clarinet Alazander Ball – 10th Chair Trumpet Will Crawford – 7th Chair Trombone The following students who made the 2nd Round OkMEA All-State were: Alivya Strong Payton Peddy Alazander Ball Will Crawford Jordan Boland Auditions for the EDBDA Jazz Band will be held Jan. 28, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at Muldrow High School with a backup date of Feb. 4, 2025.

Checotah High School will host the clinic Feb.7 – 8, 2025.

The Eastern District Band Directors Association (EDBDA) is a nonprofit organization comprised of band directors in the eastern area of Oklahoma. EDBDA is dedicated to helping students have positive musical experiences within the classroom as well as in the performance arenas.
