Eufaula rolls to victory over Checotah
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Wildcats (1-6) entered into a charged environment as they battled No. 19th ranked and incounty rival (7-2) Friday night at Eufaula. It was a great game for three periods with Eufaula coming out on top 50-36.

Both teams answered score for score in the first period with it ending eight to eight. However, it would be the Ironheads effort in the second period that changed the game. Eufaula outscored Checotah 22-14. Dusty Eby was outstanding from the perimeter knocking down three-pointers and finished with a game high 15 points. The guard play from Eufaula was pivotal in the victory as they foiced multiple turn- overs. Checotah was tough in the paint with R.J. Womack and Cole Rolland defended with their physicality. They matched up with Keaton Parish, Dacen Hunter and Maddox Bridges and it was something to watch as all of them gave it their best effort.

Parish scored five of his eight points in the second period with Eby adding two three-pointers and Jentry James hitting from the perimeter overwhelmed the Wild-cats to go into the halftime break 30-22.

Checotah came out of the break with a lot of energy and it paid off as they outscored Eufaula 9 to 8 with scores from Womack and three-pointers from Tyler Orman and Aum Patel.

The fourth period was all Ironheads as they dominated the Wildcats by forcing turnovers, out rebounding and shooting foul shots. Ty Sparks recorded five steals in that period alone and scored eight points. Bridges and James each scored with Logan Plant and Hunter grabbing rebounds. Eufaula outscored Checotah 12-5 to win the game 50-36.

Eby led all scorers with 15 points, James seven, Bridges six, Parish eight and Ty Sparks finished with 10 for Eufaula.

Tyler Orman led Checotah with 12 points, Patel six, Rolland and Womack each had five points and Rowan Chapman added two points.
